About Centrepointe

Centrepointe is a neighbourhood in College Ward in Ottawa's urban west end, formerly part of the city of Nepean. Wikipedia describes it as a residential subdivision developed from 1984 onward, built as a "self-contained community" and meant to be Nepean's "downtown". Its major attraction is Ben Franklin Place, which houses the Ottawa Public Library's Centrepointe branch, Centrepointe Theatre and the former Nepean City Hall. About 1,000 homes are detached, and most of the rest are townhomes and terrace homes. In the 2021 census, ONS counted 9,260 residents and 3,700 private dwellings in its Centrepointe area.

Boundaries

Wikipedia describes Centrepointe as informally bounded by Baseline Road to the north, Woodroffe Avenue to the east, the CN railway to the south, and the Briargreen subdivision and Forest Ridge Apartments to the west. The ONS draws its own Centrepointe boundary, so figures on this page may cover a slightly different area.

Homes

Wikipedia says the housing includes about 1,000 detached homes, with most of the rest townhomes (row houses) and terrace homes. In the 2021 census, ONS's Centrepointe area was 41.9% single-detached houses, 37.7% row houses, 4.3% semi-detached, 10.9% apartments in buildings under five storeys and 4.9% in buildings of five or more storeys. ONS counts 22.3% of private dwellings as condominiums, and 70.2% of households own their home. en.wikipedia.org ons-sqo.ca
