What is the history of Centrepointe?
Centrepointe was developed from 1984 onward on former farmland bought by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, which had planned an 'ideal community' demonstration model. After budget cuts, CMHC sold most of the land to the Minto Group, which built a range of homes from townhouses to larger houses.
As of · Updated
It was designed as Nepean's 'downtown', with small commercial space, offices and a civic square that housed Nepean's city hall. The self-contained community was projected to cost $700 million.
